Wisdom Story of the Week: Reinvention As A Necessity
Updated: Jul 28, 2020
This week’s theme at SWC is “reinvention.” It follows the “vision” theme we have recently discussed in our Body Mind Soul classes. To me, these concepts are two sides of a coin.
Lately, the universe has asked us to envision a new, different and better future. We have (hopefully finally) recognized the systemic injustices that put black lives at great risk. We have realized how interconnected we are with all living beings as we have watched a pandemic jump from animals to humans and impact every corner of the world. Many of us are asking, more than ever, what we can do to make positive changes in ourselves, our communities, our country and the world and what those changes would look like as a concrete vision.
As we deal with massive events on an almost daily basis we can look for new approaches. Let’s keep what works and find innovative ways to deal with what doesn’t serve us any longer.
That can mean being flexible in our expectations or giving ourselves a break if we feel anxious or stressed. We can look at our home spaces with fresh eyes to carve out the spots we need to relax and connect. We can spend more time outside in nature. We can become conscious consumers making spending choices that result in a more just, safer and sustainable world.
For the fortunate among us that have not experienced sickness, death or significant loss of income as a result of the pandemic, we can look for new ways to be of service to those in pain, grief or need.
The old adage is that necessity is the mother of invention. I would suggest that reinvention is necessary in these unusual and turbulent times. We can use our vision of a better world as a guidepost to see how that manifests for each of us.
The Sattva Wisdom Center is here for you, providing resources to lift you up and help you navigate the reinvention process. We can’t wait to welcome you!
With love and light,
