Wisdom Story of the Month: On Being Seen and Heard
Updated: Jul 28, 2020
My thing is learning—I am like a sponge, soaking up knowledge. In that vein, Sattva Wisdom Center started out with a team of highly experienced teachers and a line-up of classes and events “teaching ancient tools for modern living.” What I have discovered since SWC opened it doors is that participants (including me!) not only want skills that enhance their daily lives, but also want to feel seen and heard.
As each event has unfolded, I have been lucky to witness people sharing their personal experiences, finding common ground with one another and connecting. Each event has left me feeling that I have not only learned something, but discovered I am not alone in my thoughts and feelings. I have made new friends and found out new things about old friends. I have seen how a small group of women can be powerfully supportive of one another when they sit in a circle of meaningful conversation. And I have observed that tasty snacks are important too!
All of this is just as important as the teachings SWC offers. I now know that SWC is also meant to be a place where each person who walks through its doors can feel that they have been truly seen and heard.
We have some great events and classes planned for the rest of 2019 and many exciting things in the works for next year. I can’t wait for you to join us and become part of the growing community at SWC!
With love and light, Denise
