Wisdom Story of the Month: Leaping Into 2020

Updated: Jul 28, 2020

Lately I’ve been exploring what the 2020 leap year means energetically. To track time, our earliest ancestors watched and recorded the movement of the sun’s journey through the changes of seasons and the related lengths of days, while they also observed the monthly phases of the moon and its locations throughout the year. The challenge in this method is to integrate the timing of the sun and the moon, because they can’t be exactly matched. Various cultures, including ours, have addressed the problem with a “fudge factor.” Our method was to add a day every four years to the calendar to match the sun/moon/seasons—essentially to play catch up and rectify the mismatch in timing that has accrued.

Similarly, we can use a leap year to catch up to and check in with any discrepancies between our deepest dreams and how we are actually living our lives. The leap year can be a gentle reminder to move closer to congruency between the two.

For me, the leap year is a nudge to notice any disconnect between the amazing positive things I learn at the Sattva Wisdom Center and my thoughts, actions, and words and to intentionally act to keep them in sync.

Even when I slip up (a little “fudge factor”), I remind myself to get back on track and keep going. I am grateful for the extra time this year (even if it’s only a day) to keep expanding and investigating in this way.

The Sattva Wisdom Center is a place where we can join together and learn to take advantage of all this special year has to offer. We can’t wait to welcome you!

Love and light,

Denise
