The Powerful Practice of RAIN

RAIN is an acronym for a powerful mindfulness practice that allows you to feel more compassion for yourself and, by extension, others.

This article has a good overview:

https://www.mindful.org/rain-a-mindfulness-practice-for-welcoming-your-emotions/

The author explains the four aspects of RAIN as follows:

Recognize - The first step is to simply recognize a feeling that is coming up for you.

Acknowledge - The second step is an extension of the first - once you recognize the feeling, you accept it and allow it to just be there.

Investigate - Next you begin to ask questions and explore your emotions with openness and curiosity.

Non-identify - The last step is to avoid being defined by (identified with) a feeling, even as you engage with it.

RAIN allows you to recognize that although you can’t always control your thoughts, you can transform your relationship with them to be more effective in all aspects of your life.

We invite you to join us on May 20th at 7:00 p.m. for the next event in our meditation series “The Power of RAIN In Our Daily Lives,” led by Ellen Patrick.

Ellen will explore the ways you can incorporate this mindfulness technique into your meditation toolbox.

We can’t wait to welcome you!

With love and light,

Denise
