You know the saying “fake it ’til you make it’? That’s how I am feeling about our theme at SWC for the next couple of months, which is “Happiness and Joy.”
When I selected the theme in late Fall of last year, my thought was that we would turn the page emotionally on 2020 and focus on the positive in 2021.
I still think we can do this, but didn’t anticipate that the first weeks of January would bring a record pace of deaths related to COVID or the insurrection at the Capitol and the hatred that was on display.
One thing that always works for me when I feel anxiety, fear or anger is to channel those strong emotions into action.
What if that action was to focus on happiness and joy?
With that intention, I have written a series of blogs that will be posted on our Facebook pages and website about our theme.
I researched different aspects of happiness and joy - looking at contentment, self-acceptance, maintaining happiness when social distancing, choosing joy, the power of positive thinking and more.
I included lots of links to good resources in each blog so readers can go deeper and find the information that most resonates with them.
I believe we can choose our thoughts. If we can do that, then we can choose some modicum of happiness and joy even in difficult moments - even if we fake it until we make it.
At SWC, every offering is designed to help you find tools to enrich your life.
We hope you will join us and can’t wait to welcome you!
With love and light,
