A Meditation On Meditation
When I was a young lawyer, my mother urged me to meditate. I scoffed at the notion—who had even a minute to sit still? Then, after a series of losses of loved ones, including my mother, I began to look for some solace.
Someone again suggested trying meditation. I decided to give it a try, with no idea what would be accomplished.
Little by little, with patience and practice, I began to experience the benefits of meditation. I could literally feel my brain chemistry change, leading me to feel less reactive and more intuitive. I was hooked.
I embarked on an exploration of a wide variety of meditation techniques, working with teachers in different traditions, both in person and online.
Then Ishta Yoga, a studio I frequented while visiting my daughter in New York, offered a meditation training. Although I didn’t think I would ever teach, I jumped at the chance to find out more about meditation.
The training was one of the highlights of my meditation exploration. It was such a treat to learn from an expert and to talk to other students about their meditation experiences. While I was excited to receive a certificate of completion, it was the time spent in immersion that I really treasure.
It is in that spirit that the Sattva Wisdom Center is offering its first meditation training led by Leah Kinsella, who has taught this training for over 6 years, using techniques taught to her by Rod Stryker.
Leah will provide insight into the art and science of meditation, whether you want to teach meditation, use meditation with your clients, or like me, just want to deepen your understanding of meditation.
Registrants will receive a certificate of completion, a free e-book, a PDF of guided meditations provided by Leah and more. The training is eligible for 16 CEU credits provided by Yoga Alliance.
